The architectural historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-83) came to England from Germany in 1933. After the war he created the seminal Buildings of England series of county guides to England's architecture. The Nottinghamshire guide has now been completely revised and updated by historian Clare Hartwell. Nottingham-based architectural photographer, Martine Hamilton Knight, was commissioned by Yale University Press to work with Hartwell on the new book.

Martine Hamilton Knight gives an illustrated talk about the challenges of shooting ‘timeless’ images of the city and county’s built heritage for the updated Pevsner guide to Nottinghamshire. Her brief by Yale University Press to create iconic photographs showing each structure’s designed form involved considerable ingenuity. Martine’s exhibition, originally planned for summer 2020, will now be shown in 2022.
