In the past 70 years, a new emerging cross-cultural aesthetic has transformed contemporary literature, within poetry in particular. But what is cross-cultural poetics? What has led to its development and what does it bring to writers and their writing? Is it evolution or revolution?
Celebrated playwright, novelist, critic and broadcaster, Bonnie Greer will discuss how it applies to her work on black history. Anglo-Chinese Jamaican poet, memoirist and academic Hannah Lowe will explore the ‘borderliner', a new poetry format that allows her to unify her poetry with two singular yet complementary voices. Spiritual teacher, poet, and author John Siddique, part of the WritersMosaic editorial team, will discuss the sense of freedom given by his Indian and Irish heritage as well as his take on spirituality.
This captivating conversation will be chaired by poet, teacher, presenter and Royal Society of Literature Chair, Daljit Nagra. Together they will explore the subject in relation to their own work, heritage and inspirations.
WritersMosaic is an online platform funded by The Royal Literary Fund for new writing from a mosaic of literary voices and cultures across the UK: writersmosaic.org.uk
