THE BIG SUNFLOWER COMPETITION
To lighten our paths through this difficult time, the University of Nottingham’s Biodiscovery Institute Engagement Team have launched a sunny competition called #RayofSunflower with the target of planting a million sunflowers.
The BDI aim to bring the local and global University community together on a non-work-related, fun experiment, which will provide us all with a sense of achievement in growing a total of one million sunflowers. To take part, please complete this form and enter your name, region and email address. This form also gives you the option to have sunflower seeds delivered to you, or alternatively, you can source your own seeds.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It’s what the sunflowers do" – Helen Keller
Share the progress of your sunflower growing and green fingers on the BDI's Facebook page or share your images on Twitter using the hashtags #MillionSunflowers #RayofSunflower and #WeAreUoN.
Please note: the deadline to enter the competition has been extended to Thursday 23 April.

MORE ACTIVITIES TO TRY
If arts and crafts are more your thing, Hubbub Theatre Company and Rebecca Harvey-Hobbs have kindly provided us with a sunflower related craft pack. From using up toilet roll tubes to paper plates, the activities in the pack make use of items that most of us will have lying around our homes, and if not, the materials are readily available to order online or add on to the weekly shop!
The following activity pack has been designed by Maria Terry.
