Virtuoso sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun is joined by an eight-piece band in music from his acclaimed RealWorld Records debut. Written and recorded under the mentorship of Nitin Sawhney, Anomaly’s twelve tracks range from shimmering, high-wire sitar solos to ravishingly orchestrated cinematic excursions.

Degun’s music roots itself in the ancient repertoire of raags, the bedrock of improvised performance in Indian classical music, however with musicians drawn from the Indian and western classical traditions, as well as the UK jazz scene, it is thrillingly contemporary.

showcases the classical music of the subcontinent but also mixes, melds and modernises it"
