Textiles were a driving force of the medieval economy, spreading wealth, opportunities and knowledge but also disease and depopulation. This talk presents a wide range of evidence for wool and cloth production, from tools and cloth seals to surviving fragments of medieval clothing, using the archaeological remains to explore how textiles shaped rural and urban landscapes across the medieval midlands, with Dr Chris King, Curator of Exhibition Department of Classics and Archaeology, University of Nottingham.
