Our crown, whether adorned with hair, head covering, or neither, is an integral and obviously visual part of our identity.

The School of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering commissioned two student photographers, Bersun Kılınç and Saifullah Muhammad, to develop the Crowns exhibition which champions the rights of staff and students to wear their natural hairstyles and head coverings. It seeks to raise awareness of racial and religious discrimination, whilst celebrating the hair and head coverings of our Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority and diverse religious communities.

The exhibition will then continue throughout the festival and will remain at Lakeside thereafter.
