Dole Gallery: Sevim Surucu –“Blooming Colors on Water”
There will be a demo of Ebru Art during the night.
Technique: Ebru Art: Traditional Turkish Paper Marbling Art
Ebru, referred to as the “dance of colors on water”, is an art that has been considered a spiritual art for centuries. This unique art form is produced by sprinkling color pigments on to thickened water and utilizing special brushes to create various designs then transferred onto a sheet of paper or other surfaces.
Artist Bio Sevim Surucu: I am an Ebru (Turkish Paper Marbling) artist living in Chicago, IL. I graduated from Istanbul University with a Bachelor of Art degree in Landscape Architecture. After working as a landscape architect for a while in Turkey, I moved to the United States. In 2004, I started studying the art of paper marbling because I wanted to combine my love of nature with my love of Turkish Traditional Arts and sharing my prosperous culture to others.
In my marblings, I utilize traditional flower forms and contemporary designs as well as designs of my own. I held many art fairs, demonstrations, and workshops in different states Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, California, Arizona, Utah, North Carolina, New York, Missouri, Texas, Georgia and Florida. I got awarded many times as an “Outstanding Artist” at the art fairs. =
Sage Gallery: Chicago Society of Artist – The Legacy Continues
Established in 1887, the Chicago Society of Artists is well into its second century. CSA continues to influence the arts – often far beyond the boundaries of Chicago – by providing an atmosphere that allows its current membership to build upon the legacy of its past colleagues and by continuing to produce and exhibit highly creative artworks. Much of CSA’s renown is due to its members’ abilities to express and interpret the human experience via artistic versatility and eclectic styles across a variety of art mediums. CSA members honor the legacy of the past by creating their own artistic legacies for the future.
Hallway Gallery: Community Show: Delicate vs. Durable
