Starkly repetitive and energetic, NUTCRUSHER looks at sexual objectification and power.
The work questions how we relate to our bodies, how they are presented and re-presented, and how cultural contexts affect this. In NUTCRUSHER, Sung-Im Her explores the intersection of her identities as a woman, performer, Asian, and migrant, particularly in relation to the recent #metoo and #timesup movements. Through persistent techno and repetitive gestures, she and her female dancers move towards a genderless universe.
Irrepressible explosiveness and robust energy NUTCRUSHER once again establishes Her as an artist in possession of immense physical and mental vitality” Ji Won Jang
