Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, I’m Alice and I am a History and Ancient History graduate from the University of Nottingham. I have just joined the Lakeside Arts Marketing Team as part of Nottingham’s city-wide Creative Pathways graduate internship programme. I am originally from the countryside in Suffolk so I am very glad to be in Nottingham for at least another six months to carry on experiencing a big city's arts scene.
I credit my discovery of my passion for theatre to the Nottingham New Theatre, which I was heavily involved in during my degree. Through this I directed, wrote, produced, acted, and did marketing for shows. I was able to try so many different opportunities there and now I’m working in a professional theatre which is so exciting!
Working in theatre and watching theatre take up most of my time but I’m also a Brownie leader. I’ve been in Girlguiding since the age of seven, have just kept going, and since moving to Nottingham have been a leader for a Brownie unit in Beeston for three years.
What are you excited about being a Creative Intern?
I am so excited to be a Creative Pathways Intern. I did not think I would get the internship as there were so many talented graduates who had applied at my interview but I am beyond thrilled I got offered it. I am most excited to be able to try out new things within a professional venue. Though I am part of the marketing team I have been offered the chance to go backstage of future performances amongst other opportunities. It’s really cool to be able to see how a venue like Lakeside works behind the scenes. I'm very honoured to have this opportunity.
Another thing I love about the internship is that there are seven interns in total and we all get on so well. We’re all like-minded individuals that love the arts and just get on really well. It's nice we are able to plan events together, and to watch shows at each other's venues as a group.
