HIGHLIGHTS OF CURRENT PROJECT
BOB MASSEY - AN INTRODUCTION TO WILLIAM HERBERT HIGGINBOTTOM
The present project is two fold. A book is coming out in June 2020 on the Higginbottom Family of Arnold who were very important in education and architecture during the end of the 19th and early part of the 20th century. Their work affected not just the town but the whole country.
Born in Leeds, and the son of a schoolmaster, William grew up in Arnold and attended University College Nottingham. He designed a large number of buildings from small terraces to mansions, but also war memorials, churches, cinemas, factories, schools, and even snooker halls. For those keen to follow up, Bob has recently published a book on this topic, called A family of Educators and Architects.

The second project is research into all the places of entertainment in the town of Arnold over the centuries from Anglo-Saxon to the modern day. This will also result in a book which is hoped will be available for Christmas.
